Thousands of people in Michigan rely on App-Based work for their income.

Joey Andrews co-sponsored HB 4390 which changes the ways these jobs are classified, puts those jobs at risk and services that make our lives easier.  It’s time to hold Joey Andrews accountable for his actions!

They tried doing this in California and the threat to independent contractors was too much: "Reclassifying drivers in California could have amounted to more than $392 million each for Uber and Lyft in annual employee-related costs, a Reuters calculation showed.The companies warned they could cut 80% of drivers, double prices and even leave California, their home market, if they lost." Independent analysis from Miller-Johnson states that the law Joey Andrews is cosponsoring is as restrictive as what was passed in California.  The report states: “This definition is almost identical to California’s “ABC Test,” which is largely regarded as the strictest standard in the nation. Few workers will qualify as independent contractors under this standard.”   Read the entire report here.
